I am definitely a fan that content refresh is king. & absolutely submitting to search engines is a waste of time and money.

And though this article has been published not so long time ago, I disagree with the last point concerning Flash sites. No, no, It's a BIG myth that search engine doesn't see Flash site.
But I'm disagree with this:
> "Problems with page mark-up, content not being on unique URLs, and doubts over crawlability all don't lend flash sites to ranking well in search engines."

(!) Now each page of flash website may have its own unique URL. Most professional Flash websites has two versions:
- Flash version (seen by users);
- HTML version (seen by search engines and users who don't have Flash player).

Great post, I actually nodded a few times. Way to kick it off w/ #1. I couldn't agree more. Content on a site that nobody reads is king of absolutely nothing. Simply HAVING content doesn't make it linkable. And just having links to content doesn't automatically make it great.

Agreed on the metrics point as well, I mean just look at "real life". Stores go out of business in popular malls all the time, just having a lot of traffic is meaningless if no one is buying...

Yep, agree to all of it. That's funny you mentioned "content is king." Lately I've seen a lot of posts on "other" blogs that tout that good content will bring traffic. With today's algorithms, it's just not the case. Content is no good without inbound links.

Nice article and good advice. Certainly agree that conversion rates and building links are more important than looking at the stats all day long. Mind you though, its always good fun looking at the stats and I find its sometimes nice to have a break from all that hard work and do something fun.
